Once a Farm Town, Fresh Meadows in North Eastern Queens is home to St. John's University, and has historically been home to one of New York City's most thriving Jewish communities, with the Jewish population at around 60%. However, there has been an increasing number of younger, Asian Americans moving into the neighborhood that are being attracted by the neighborhood's one, and two-family attached and detached homes, co-ops, and large high-rise apartment rentals in the last several years. In 2003 The Klein Farm, dating back to 1895 and the last of the working farms in Fresh Meadows was sold to Real Estate developers. It had been one of the four remaining farms left in New York City, the last three are all located in Queens.

Francis Lewis Boulevard and Cunningham Park border Fresh Meadows to the East, 358-acre Cunningham Park is on the southeastern corner, while to the South it is bordered by Union Turnpike. The North is bordered by Kissena Park and 53rd Avenue, and the West is bordered by 164th Street. There is shopping along Union Turnpike, and 188th Street and Horace Harding Expressway.
